CanShakers Advice and Tips

I usually get my hands clean of spraypaint by getting my hands wet and applying a generous amount of a good Dishwashing Liquid Soap and letting it soak for at lest a full minute or three. The paint become more pliable and can be worked of easier. Another good idea is using one of those small handy bristled brushes to scrub hands and fingernails with. Applying a good lotion or a little liquid glove will aid in the removal of the paint if applied before painting.

Preparing for Spraypaint Art

A Beginner List of Materials

As you may or may not know already, this art form was introduced by Buskers and had caught on as an inexpensive way to express ones self artistically. Items needed could be very few in order to produce something awesome yet very basic. This list will assure you have everything you need to produce a variety of beginner to master level paintings, but still be very basic.

Get a Facemask!! It cannot be stressed enough that it is highly advised, especially if you perform in public. If you don't care about your own health, then please consider those who are impressed and wish to emulate you.

The two most important items can NOT be skimped on! Buying cheap quality Spraypaint can make the most basic painting difficult even for master. The same can be said for the right medium on which to paint. Realizing this will save you money and time, so keep in mind to be leary of 50-cent cans of spraypaints or porous posterboard.

You want a quality GLOSSY paint, but not the expensive brands! You can work them in later if you want, after you have learned some techniques. Be sure to stay away from Flat paints. And be sure to get Posterboard that has a GLOSSY side to it! That's the main secret to a decent medium, quality paint and having success quickly.

  • A Facemask!!!
  • Spraypaints (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, White and 2 Black)
  • 1 Can of Spraycan Clear Coat
  • Posterboard (Found at dollar stores, department stores, may need to be cut down)
  • Several empty, clean cans of various sizes (Soup, Coffee, Beverage cans)
  • Used Glossy Magazines (2-3 of them to start is fine)
  • A Genuine Spraycasso Tool or equivelant
  • (optional) Latex Gloves of decent fit
  • Cardboard to do artwork on

Once you gather all this stuff you'll be ready to rock and roll! Come on back and get started with our great videos and other instruction and resources. And hey, be sure to get that mask!
